Your 2014 Emirates Cosmos Player of the Year is Hunter Freeman. 

Freeman remains the only player on the team to play in every minute of league action this season. He has logged 2,340 minutes through 26 matches - mostly as a dangerous two-way player on the edge, but occasionally as a center back when called upon to fill the position. Throughout the year, he notched a goal and two assists, and made countless key stops as one of the Cosmos' last lines of defense.

"I know I’ve played a lot of games," Freeman said earlier in the year. "I think there’s a lot that goes into it. One, you have to perform well, because there are plenty of guys within this team who are capable of playing that position. For me, it’s always a lot harder to keep your position than to get a shot at it. Secondly, obviously it’s a little bit of luck with staying healthy and staying on the field.”

The 29-year-old University of Virginia product earned Emirates Cosmos Man of the Match honors twice in 2014 - first on April 26 and again on July 12, both times against the San Antonio Scorpions.

“He’s a perfect player for the style of play we like to instill on our club,” Cosmos head coach Giovanni Savarese said of Freeman.

Along with the recognition as Emirates Cosmos Player of the Year, Freeman will receive two round trip plane tickets on Emirates from New York to Dubai.

Members of the media will cast their votes to determine the Emirates Cosmos Man of the Match at every Cosmos home game. At each home match, the winner will receive an Emirates Boeing 777 model airplane with an engraved plaque recognizing the player’s achievement.

The Emirates Cosmos Man of the Match award will culminate in a season-ending Emirates Cosmos Player of the Year award. The recipient of the Emirates Cosmos Player of the Year award will receive two round trip tickets on Emirates from New York (JFK) to Dubai (DXB) to celebrate a triumphant season.
