NEW YORK (April 29, 2015) – The New York Cosmos announced today the signings of four players who will be loaned to the Cosmos B team. Midfielders, Carl-Oscar Andersson and Fernando Marqués and forward Miguel Herlein along with defender Dani Evuy will join the newly formed reserves squad, pending receipt of their International Transfer Certificate and P1 visas. As per club policy, terms of the deals were not disclosed.

Cosmos B will play in the National Premier Soccer League’s North Atlantic Conference (NPSL) under Cosmos B head coach, Alecko Eskandarian, who is also assistant coach for the New York Cosmos.

“It’s great to add the experience of these players to the Cosmos B squad,” said Eskandarian. “We’ve been training as a team for over two weeks now and I’m excited about this mix of local and international talent.”

Andersson, 22, played for Swedish club Falkenbergs FF under manager Henrik Larsson, forming part of the top league, Allsvenskan, in the country. In one season 2013-14 he made 25 appearances and scored three goals.

Evuy, 30, began his football career in Spain where he played for teams in the Segunda División and Tercera División. He also represents his country through the national team, Equatorial Guinea who recently hosted and played in the Africa Cup of Nations.  He joins the Cosmos from second tier Estonian club, JK Tallinna Kalev.

Herlein, 22, joins the Cosmos from FC Goa which forms part of the Indian Super League. Previously he has played for teams in Cypriot, Spanish and Portuguese leagues. Herlein has also represented his country at U-16 and U-19 levels.

Marqués, 30, spent two seasons (2004 – 2006) with Spanish club, Racing Santander during which time he went on loan to Atlético Madrid, making nine appearances for the La Liga side. In 2007 he joined Greek team Iraklis Thessaloniki FC but returned to Spain after two seasons to play for RCD Espanyol. In 2010, Marqués joined Italian Serie A team Parma FC.

“Andersson, Evuy, Herlein and Marqués are three very experienced players” said New York Cosmos head coach Giovanni Savarese. “As they train and play for the Cosmos B we will be able to evaluate them and if appropriate they will be considered to be part of the first team at any time.”

The Cosmos B will play their opening fixture against the Brooklyn Italians on May 2, following the first team’s game against Ottawa Fury at MCU Park, making it free to fans that can enjoy two games for the price of one.
