In what head coach Giovanni Savarese called "one of the most complete games we've played in the past three years,” the New York Cosmos took down the defending NASL postseason champions 3-0 at Shuart Stadium this past Saturday.

Cosmos forward Raúl was vital to that performance, first converting a penalty in the 18th minute. In the 86th minute he helped put the game out of reach with a won ball and a short cross in the box that ended in a Leo Fernandes goal.

The NASL recognized Raúl as league Player of the Week on Monday. Members of the media also voted him Emirates Cosmos Man of the Match on May 23.

"The team is working very hard and we are focused on finishing the Spring Season strongly,” Raúl said. “I'm happy to be part of what we have achieved so far, and hopefully we can continue to do well."

Raúl has started every match of the Cosmos' 2015 NASL Season, compiling 651 minutes on the pitch. He and Fernandes are tied for the team lead in goals with three each.

“It's great to see Raul recognized by the NASL as the Player of the Week,” said Savarese. “I'm very proud of the team and how hard they have been working, and we will continue to focus on one game at a time.”
