Here’s who to keep an eye on in this Sunday's pivotal matchup, as the Cosmos continue their fight to clinch home field advantage throughout The Championship.

NEW YORK COSMOS

Andrés Flores | Midfielder #11

The Salvadorian national team captain has put up great performances in the Fall Season for the Cosmos, most notably in the last few matches to close out September. In the Cosmos’ last home match against the Ottawa Fury, Flores netted an equalizer in the 47th minute before the Fury went on to win 4-1. Flores looks to continue this form going into Sunday’s match.

Jimmy Maurer | Goalkeeper #1

Maurer, who sat out Sunday’s match against the Eddies for rest, is eager to get back in the net. A 2014 NASL Best XI member and league Player of the Month this past April, Maurer sits near the top of the NASL with a 1.04 goals against average (GAA). He trails only Ottawa's Romuald Peiser in that category.

Marcos Senna | Midfielder #19

Retiring at season’s end, the Villarreal and Spanish national team legend is entering the final month of his final regular season. Senna scored the Cosmos’ lone goal last weekend in Canada, his second of the season. His goal in the 2013 Soccer Bowl against Atlanta secured New York a championship in its reboot campaign.

ATLANTA SILVERBACKS

Paul Black | Defender #3

The English defender is coming off being named to the NASL’s Team of the Week for a third time this fall and fourth time this year. In Atlanta’s 3-3 stalemate against the San Antonio Scorpions last Saturday, Black connected on an assist with Jaime Chavez in the eighth minute. The assist, which came from midfield, was a big moment in securing the Silverbacks a point in their race for a postseason spot. Black, who is a former U-18 and U-19 England international, has been a very flexible option for the Silverbacks this season, logging 2,116 minutes at fullback, center back and in the midfield.

Jaime Chavez | Forward #9

Chavez is coming off a two-goal performance. With goals in the eighth and 58th minutes at Toyota Field, Chavez tied teammate Pedro Mendes for the team lead in goals with seven. Chavez has combined with Mendes and Junior Burgos to score 16 of Atlanta’s 22 goals in the Fall Season.

Pedro Mendes | Forward #22

Mendes has also been pacing the Silverbacks attack recently, scoring two goals in Atlanta’s last three matches. The most notable goal out of the two came September 19 in a 2-1 victory over the Carolina RailHawks. His seventh goal of the season equalized the match at one goal apiece in the 31st minute, and the Silverbacks would net the winning goal three minutes later on a Kyle Porter strike. Mendes was recently reunited on the Silverbacks with his twin brother, Paulo, a Cosmos forward in the reboot season.
