The Spanish great's game-winner helped New York advance to the NASL Championship Final next Sunday.

For the second time in as many matches, Raúl scored the deciding goal for the New York Cosmos.

This time the stakes were as high as ever. New York fell behind early in the first half of its Championship Semifinal match against the Fort Lauderdale Strikers on Nov. 7, but found an equalizer before the break through Marcos Senna and Gastón Cellerino. The Cosmos came out the aggressors in the second 45, and Senna's former La Roja  teammate broke the deadlock in the 61st minute.

Raúl took a defender-splitting touch forward on a Danny Szetela pass, then took aim and fired off the right post for his ninth score of the year.

Members of the media rewarded Raúl with his team-high fifth Emirates Cosmos Man of the Match distinction this year.

Members of the media will cast their votes to determine the Emirates Cosmos Man of the Match at every Cosmos home game. At each home match, the winner will receive an Emirates Airbus A380 model airplane with an engraved plaque recognizing the player’s achievement.

The Emirates Cosmos Man of the Match award will culminate in a season-ending Emirates Cosmos Player of the Year award. The recipient of the Emirates Cosmos Player of the Year award will receive two round trip tickets on Emirates from New York (JFK) to Dubai (DXB) to celebrate a triumphant season.
