Moffat Named Emirates Man of the Match

The Cosmos' lone goal scorer on Sunday afternoon, defensive midfielder Adam Moffat took Emirates Man of the Match honors for the first time.

Adam Moffat has been valuable to the New York Cosmos this season in his role as defensive midfielder, allowing midfield partners to run forward while shielding the back line from opposing counterattacks. But the do-it-all Scotsman has also showcased his prowess from the penalty spot.

When Lucky Mkosana won a foul inside the 18-yard box in the 38th minute of New York's home matchup with Rayo OKC, Moffat stepped up and slammed the ball past goalkeeper Daniel Fernandes for his fifth score of the season.

The fixture finished 1-1, and Moffat earned his first Emirates Man of the Match award from the media.

Members of the media will cast their votes to determine the Emirates Cosmos Man of the Match at every Cosmos home game. At each home match, the winner will receive an Emirates Airbus A380 model airplane with an engraved plaque recognizing the player’s achievement.

The Emirates Cosmos Man of the Match award will culminate in a season-ending Emirates Cosmos Player of the Year award. The recipient of the Emirates Cosmos Player of the Year award will receive two round trip tickets on Emirates from New York (JFK) to Dubai (DXB) to celebrate a triumphant season.
