In a record-setting team performance, Juan Arango stood out. The longtime captain of Venezuela's national team scored the first two Cosmos goals in a 6-1 victory over the Carolina RailHawks on August 27 at Hofstra's Shuart Stadium.

Both times Arango showcased his talent for positioning himself to make a play. First he carved out space at the top of the penalty area, received a pass from Andrés Flores and sent a stinging shot into the back of the net to equalize in the eighth minute.

In the 58th minute Arango put New York ahead for good, cleaning up a rebound off Sebastián Guenzatti's shot.

This is the third time this season that Arango has been recognized as Emirates Cosmos Man of the Match. He has scored nine goals and added four assists in 20 appearances.

Members of the media will cast their votes to determine the Emirates Cosmos Man of the Match at every Cosmos home game. At each home match, the winner will receive an Emirates Airbus A380 model airplane with an engraved plaque recognizing the player’s achievement.

The Emirates Cosmos Man of the Match award will culminate in a season-ending Emirates Cosmos Player of the Year award. The recipient of the Emirates Cosmos Player of the Year award will receive two round trip tickets on Emirates from New York (JFK) to Dubai (DXB) to celebrate a triumphant season.
