MATCHUP HISTORY

Saturday night marks the Cosmos’ second visit to Fort Lauderdale this season. They suffered a 2-1 defeat in the Spring Season finale back on June 4, their first loss to the Strikers of the Modern Era.

New York leads the series since the reboot with six wins, two draws and one loss. The Strikers come to Shuart Stadium on October 2.

NOTES

Streaking: The Cosmos are riding a four-match winning streak, which includes a decisive midweek triumph over Indy Eleven on August 31. They’ve also gone unbeaten in their last six, posting a 5-1-0 (W-D-L) record while outscoring their opponents 18-5.

Heating Up In August: New York finished its August with four wins, a draw and no defeats. This is the second consecutive season the team has posted an undefeated August; in 2015 the Cosmos went 5-2-0.

4-2-3-Juan: With four goals in his last two games, Cosmos attacking midfielder Juan Arango sits third in the NASL Golden Boot race. His 11 scores put him just two off Minnesota forward Christian Ramirez’s league-leading pace.
