The New York Cosmos announced today the return of midfielder David Diosa. As per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“We are pleased to bring yet another player from our 2016 roster. David not only had a tremendous season last year, but also made a positive impact on the rest of the team,” said Cosmos Head Coach Giovanni Savarese. “Securing a player from our reboot season like David speaks highly of our commitment to providing local talent an opportunity to grow professionally and help the team evolve.”

Diosa, a former New York Cosmos Academy product, began his career with the Cosmos in 2010, playing for the New York Cosmos Academy U-18 and U-23 teams before signing a professional contract with the Cosmos in 2013. The 24-year-old Colombia native enjoyed his most successful season with the Cosmos in 2016, registering three goals and three assists in 1034 minutes of play.

“I’m thrilled to rejoin my home team,” said Diosa. “Even though I left for a couple of months, I always hoped to be able to return and play in front of my family and friends, as well as the supporters who have given so much to the team.”

The Cosmos will kick off the 2017 NASL Season March 25, when they travel to Juan Ramón Loubriel Stadium to take on Puerto Rico FC. The Cosmos' 2017 home opener will take place at MCU Park in Brooklyn on Saturday, April 1 at 7:00 pm against Miami FC. Season tickets are on-sale now.
