THE STAKES

The New York Cosmos (2W-3D-1L) return home to MCU Park to face Puerto Rico FC (0W-3D-3L). New York are coming off a 1-1 draw against Jacksonville Armada FC, in which Cosmos midfielder, Javi Márquez, scored his second goal so far this season. His performance earned him NASL Team of the Week honors for the third time in 2017.

Cosmos goalkeeper, Jimmy Maurer, is set to make his 100th club appearance in Saturday's game. Maurer has been a mainstay of the Cosmos defense, consistently racking up top stats in the NASL. He is second in the league with saves (25) and tied for the league lead for clean sheets with three. He was named to the NASL Team of the Month for April.

PRFC has yet to win a game this season and will be looking to get three points in Brooklyn. The team has formidable attacking power in forwards, Conor Doyle and Héctor “Pito” Ramos, who are third and fourth in the NASL in chances created with 13 and 12, respectively.

MATCHUP HISTORY

New York has an undefeated 2-1-0 (W-D-L) record against Puerto Rico FC. The Cosmos played a scoreless draw against PRFC in their season opener at Juan Ramón Loubriel Stadium on March 25.

Under Lock and Key

The Cosmos defense has conceded five goals to PRFC's nine. New York has also kept three clean sheets, while Puerto Rico FC tally one.

NASL Team of the Week

Defender, Dejan Jaković, and midfielder, Javi Márquez, were both named to the NASL's Week 7 Team of the Week. Jaković has been solid in the back line, winning all four of his five tackles and five of his six duels. The Canadian international contributed to the Cosmos' 1-1 draw with Jacksonville Armada FC, making four clearances and five interceptions. Márquez was named to the Team of the Week for the third time this season. He tallied two goals and an assist in the last three games, as well as 10 shots.

Mighty Maurer

Historic Friendlies

The New York Cosmos recently announced two historic international exhibition games. The Cosmos will travel to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia to play the nation's most decorated club, Al-Hilal FC, on Saturday, May 20. New York will also face La Liga side, Valencia CF, on Saturday, July 22, in Regina, Saskatchewan.
