THE STAKES

The New York Cosmos (3W-3D-1L) will play the visiting San Francisco Deltas (3W-3D-2L) in Brooklyn on Saturday, May 27th.

The Cosmos return to NASL action after a scoreless draw in a historic international exhibition match against Saudi Champions, Al-Hilal FC.

New York will look to extend a five-game unbeaten run in the NASL, while snapping the Deltas' road record. The Cosmos swept past Puerto Rico FC in a 4-3 victory at MCU Park in their last league game. Midfielder, Emmanuel Ledesma, assisted two goals, earning Emirates Man of the Match honors. Ledesma also scored in the Cosmos' first meeting with the Deltas, earning New York a victory in the matchup debut.

Saturday's game will feature a celebration of two Cosmos players, midfielder, Danny Szetela, and goalkeeper, Jimmy Maurer, who both reached 100 appearances for the club this season. Szetela and Maurer became the third and fourth players to hit the milestone in the Modern Era, joining teammates Ayoze and Carlos Mendes, who made their 100th appearances last season.

The Deltas are coming off a 3-0 loss to Jacksonville Armada FC. New York will aim to get past shot-stopper, Romuald Peiser, who has kept the Deltas' defense consistent. The team is conceding 0.9 goals per game this season, tied for the second-fewest in the league.

MATCHUP HISTORY

The Cosmos won 1-0 against the Deltas in April. New York's victory in the matchup debut broke San Francisco's four-game unbeaten record, also delivering the Deltas their first loss at Kezar Stadium.

NOTES

Fantastic Four

The Cosmos' 4-3 win vs PRFC was the third time they have scored four or more goals in a home match since the start of 2016.

The Big 100

Midfielder, Danny Szetela and goalkeeper, Jimmy Maurer, both made their 100th club appearances for the Cosmos this season, becoming the third and fourth players to hit the milestone in the Modern Era. Their incredible feat will be honored at MCU Park this weekend.

Dependable Dejan

Defender, Dejan Jaković, is great at distributing the ball to his teammates. He is completing 85.7% of his passes this season, the sixth-best percentage of any NASL player with at least 200 pass attempts this season.

Might of the Midfield

Midfielder, Emmanuel Ledesma, tallied two assists and seven chances in the Cosmos' 4-3 win against Puerto Rico FC. He is the fourth Cosmos player since the start of last season with multiple assists in a game, and his seven chances created are tied for the most by any NASL player over that time.

Set Piece Spark

The Cosmos have done well to capitalize on set pieces. Midfielder, Javi Márquez, is one of three players in the NASL to score on a direct free kick so far this season. Márquez is also tied for the league lead in free kick shots.

Best on The Block

New York leads the NASL with 3.4 blocks per game entering this weekend.
