The Cosmos B hit the road against Greater Lowell FC, looking to build momentum after yesterday’s victory against the Seacoast United Phantoms. Midfielder Matías Ruiz wore the Captain’s armband and started the attack with a shot, which went just over the crossbar in the 7th minute. The visitors applied pressure throughout the pitch, and counter attacked as the home team were struggling to defend the Cosmos B.

Their persistence finally paid off with an offensive drive that resulted in a penalty kick after a dangerous tackle in the box. Ruiz capitalized on the opportunity as he beat the goalkeeper and provided his side the opening goal of the match in the 24th minute. The Cosmos B had a couple more chances by Julian Stahler and Lucas Mendes, who continued to threaten Greater Lowell FC’s defense. The referee blew the halftime whistle, as the Cosmos B went into the locker room ahead 1-0.

Second half action featured more attacking by the away team, in an effort to close the match. José Nájera ripped a shot from long range while the goalkeeper was off his line, however, the keeper made it back in time to knock the ball over the crossbar in the 73rd minute.

The Cosmos B were relentless, looking for a second goal. Mohammed Rashid then sent a perfectly weighted cross to David Nigro, who found the back of the net in the 80th minute. That would be enough, as the Cosmos B grabbed a 2-0 victory against Greater Lowell FC and picked up their third consecutive win of the season.

The Cosmos B return to action on June 10th at 7:00pm as they play host to Seacoast United Phantoms at Rocco B. Commisso Stadium.
