THE STAKES
The New York Cosmos (4W-4D-2L) will host North Carolina FC (4W-2D-4L) at MCU Park in the second of three consecutive home games on Saturday, June 10.
The Cosmos aim to bounce back from their 2-4 loss to FC Edmonton, setting their sights on a repeat of last weekend's 1-0 win away at North Carolina. In that game, goalkeeper, Brian Holt, recorded a second straight shutout, keeping NCFC from getting on the scoreboard.
North Carolina's loss to the Cosmos came after a 2-1 defeat at Jacksonville Armada, marking the first time they've lost back-to-back games since October 2016. Goalkeeper, Brian Sylvestre, leads the NASL with the most saves (45), followed by New York's Jimmy Maurer (27). The Cosmos will have to get past Sylvestre, who allowed only one goal in the teams' last meeting, making five saves to hold off the New York offense.
MATCHUP HISTORY
The Cosmos have a 7-1-4 (W-D-L) record against North Carolina. New York took three points in a 1-0 victory over NCFC last Sunday. The win added a seventh game to the Cosmos' unbeaten run in the matchup. New York has been great at finding the net against North Carolina, outscoring NCFC 26-16.
