Cosmos B fall 1-0 to TSF FC

Published Jun 17, 2017

The last time the New York Cosmos B met TSF FC on the pitch was three weeks ago as the Cosmos B came away with all three points in a 2-1 home win. Tonight's match proved to be a greater challenge for the Cosmos B on the road.

The match was back and forth for much of the 90 minutes with both sides creating opportunities on goal. The Cosmos B nearly had an opener in the 10th minute, drilling a free kick off the post. Argentine forward Pablo Vranjican lead the attack for New York, providing a great chance in the 17th minute with a shot which beat the keeper but not the woodwork as the Cosmos B continued to push for an elusive first goal.

The Cosmos B defense was rock solid as they managed to prevent TSF FC from threatening their back line. A pair of nice saves from Hector Guerrero kept things level going into the break.

The Cosmos B came out well organized to open the second half, dictating the match’s pace and much of the possession. Despite seeing the majority of the ball, the visitors could not unlock TSF’s defense. The Cosmos B made a wholesale substitution at the hour mark, bringing on José Nájera, Matías Ruiz and David Nigro to try and spark the offense.

Guerrero’s heroics and the Cosmos defensive efforts were not enough to keep out the home side as a 65th minute free kick from Luis Mendoza gave TSF FC a 1-0 lead. Despite the Cosmos B best efforts, TSF would not relinquish their slim lead.

Full time came before the Cosmos B could draw level, ending their four match win streak in the league. New York return to action on June 25th as they travel to Greater Lowell FC.
