Jaković, Flores, and Menjívar Make Their Mark in CONCACAF Gold Cup

The Cosmos trio shone on the pitch in Canada and El Salvador's first two Gold Cup matches

Cosmos center back, Dejan Jaković, as well as midfielders, Andrés Flores and Richard Menjívar, took to the field for Canada and El Salvador, kicking off their national teams' 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup campaigns.

Jaković started for Canada in their first two games, playing a full 90 minutes in each. He got on the scoreboard in the national team's opening match of the tournament, netting in his first international goal to open the score in a 4-2 win over French Guiana. The center back got on the end of a free kick in the 28th minute, hammering home from point-blank range. Jaković was instrumental to Canada's dominance, stealing the ball three times and distributing to his teammates with an accuracy of 88%.

The Cosmos defender was back in action for Canada in a face-off against Costa Rica, wearing the captain's armband in a 1-1 draw.

Flores, who suited up for El Salvador, also captained his side, starting and playing 59 minutes in a challenging face-off against Mexico. Despite La Selecta's 3-1 loss, the midfielder showcased his leadership skills and made sure 95% of his passes reached their intended destination.

El Salvador's second game, a 2-0 win over Curaçao, featured Flores and another Cosmos midfielder, Richard Menjívar. Both players came on as second half substitutes in the 56th and 77th minutes, respectively. Flores delivered three corner kicks, while Menjívar helped La Selecta maintain possession with a passing accuracy of 75%.
