Kobi Moyal Settles Into New York Comfortably

The Israeli earns NASL TOTW & Play of the Week honors

Kobi Moyal has made quite the move from Jerusalem to Brooklyn, New York, but he has found himself comfortable with his new team, where he hopes to achieve many great things.

Moyal made his official debut with the Cosmos in outstanding fashion in their first game of the 2017 NASL Fall Season, in a home opener against Miami FC, the defending Spring Season Champions. This was after having unofficially debuted in an international exhibition match against La Liga giant, Valencia CF.

The speedy midfielder was thrown into the midst of a fantastic game against Miami in the 75th minute and quickly made an impact by scoring an outstanding goal, which not only won him the NASL Play of the Week award, but also earned him a spot in the NASL Team of the Week.

“It is always valuable to score, especially when you debut in front of your fans. I also felt proud to be called to the NASL Team of the Week,” added Moyal. “However, none of those emotions matched what I felt when the game against Miami was over and we delivered a win to our loyal fans.”

Being amongst one of the newest players of the team, it’s never easy to assimilate to the culture and way of living of the United States. However, Moyal quickly blended in very well with the team and his teammates, and now calls Brooklyn and the New York Cosmos his home.

“In a very short time, I have felt nothing but love and support from my new teammates,” admits the Cosmos’ #8 midfielder. “I wanted to come to New York for a long time, but I didn't image I was going to feel integrated to this family as rapidly as I did.”

Kobi has big things planned for his time with the Cosmos and feels confident about the team putting up a good performance this weekend in Canada against FC Edmonton.

“This will be a tough match, especially because they [Edmonton] have a lot of confidence after their previous win, but we also have worked hard and will come out focused and prepared,” says Moyal.

The Israeli midfielder is not concerned at all about leaving a personal mark with the NASL Champions just yet, as he visualizes team success being the most important component of the organization’s long-term realization.

“I want to help my teammates play their best game and be a game changer anytime I am on the field. More than thinking about my legacy, I want to help the Cosmos legacy grow even more by winning yet another title.”

Moyal and the NY Cosmos will be in Canada this weekend, as they will take on FC Edmonton on Friday, August 11 at 9:00 pm ET at Clarke Stadium. Watch the game live on ESPN3.

The team will return to MCU Park to face Indy Eleven on Saturday, August 19 at 7:30 pm. Tickets are on sale now. For more information, click here.
