The New York Cosmos will travel to Riccardo Silva Stadium to play Miami FC on Wednesday, September 6.

The road trip comes right at the heels of the Cosmos' 2-0 home loss to Jacksonville Armada FC, giving New York the opportunity to make a speedy recovery in the race for the NASL Championship. The Cosmos dominated possession and had nearly twice the number of shots as the visiting Armada, but couldn't convert their advantage into goals. New York also had more set pieces than Jacksonville, some of which were won or delivered by two returning players, David Diosa and Juan Arango.

Midfielder, Andrés Flores, earned his first Emirates Man of the Match award in 2017 for playing a key role in orchestrating many of New York's chances in Sunday's game.

The Cosmos are 7-9-6 (W-D-L) in the combined standings, making the team fourth heading into the 23rd week of Regular Season action.

Miami FC (16W-3D-4L combined) won their fifth consecutive game last Saturday, recording a 1-0 home victory against Puerto Rico FC. Jaime Chávez had the lone goal of the night, powering a header into the far post off a cross from Blake Smith. Three of Miami's last four wins had a score of 1-0, with Chávez netting in all three game-winners.

The teams last met in the Cosmos' Fall Season opener on July 29, with the New York emerging the victors in a 3-1 contest at MCU Park. An Eric Calvillo brace was capped off with a 90th minute goal by Kobi Moyal, who also added an assist in his NASL debut. Kwadwo Poku brought one back for Miami in the 69th minute, getting a one-touch finish on a pass from Ariel Martínez.

The Cosmos have a 5-0-2 (W-D-L) record against Miami, outscoring the opposition 16-8. Games between the teams tend to be high-scoring and are usually runaways for either side, as only two of their seven meetings ended with a one-goal margin.
