The New York Cosmos end their three-game homestand when they play North Carolina FC on Saturday, September 23 at 7:00 pm. Both teams have 33 points in the NASL Combined Standings, but goal difference puts NCFC in third place, while the Cosmos are currently fifth. New York and North Carolina are both in good form, having lost just one of their last five games.

The Cosmos (7-12-6, Combined Standings) drew 2-2 against the San Francisco Deltas on Wednesday night. Juan Guerra kicked off the scoring in the 19th minute, getting on the end of a rebound after Eugene Starikov's shot was saved by Deltas keeper, Romuald Peiser. Pablo Vranjicán got a second for New York, converting a 60th minute penalty kick. Both players tallied their fifth goals for the Cosmos this year. Guerra also earned his first Emirates Man of the Match award.

North Carolina (8-9-9, Combined Standings) played to a scoreless draw against Puerto Rico FC last Saturday. Like the Cosmos, NCFC had the upper hand throughout their game. Colin Clarke's men outshot PRFC 20-4, but couldn't get the final score to reflect their advantage.

The Cosmos have a 7-3-4 (W-D-L) record against North Carolina, outscoring the opposition 30-20. The teams last met on August 26, ending the night with two goals apiece at Sahlen's Stadium at WakeMed Soccer Park. Andrés Flores and Eugene Starikov got on the scoreboard in the 59th and 71st minutes, respectively. North Carolina's Nazmi Albadawi had the game-opener in the 46th, while Renan Gorne's 90th minute equalizer capped off the night.

New York hasn't lost to NCFC since September 20, 2014, and holds a nine-game unbeaten run in the matchup.
