New York Cosmos defender, Ayoze, midfielder, Andrés Flores, and forward, Eugene Starikov, were named to the NASL Team of the Week for Week 13 of the 2017 Fall Season.

All three Cosmos players played crucial rules as New York defeated Puerto Rico FC 4-1 on Wednesday before a 4-4 tie against Jacksonville Armada FC on Sunday afternoon as New York earned four points in its last two road games of the Regular Season.

Ayoze led the Cosmos in Wednesday’s win by scoring a pair of goals for his first New York brace. His first goal came off a free kick in the 35th minute to give the Cosmos a 1-0 lead. In the second half, he converted a penalty kick in the 83rd minute to seal the victory. In Sunday’s draw, Ayoze won all five of his total tackles while converting on 37 of his 44 passes.

Flores started both games for New York and had the greatest impact in Jacksonville. The midfielder recorded assists on two second half goals as the Cosmos erased a 3-1 halftime deficit to earn a point. First, he combined with Emmanuel Ledesma to find Starikov inside the box for the Cosmos’ second goal. Less than 10 minutes later, he made a perfect through ball to Lucky Mkosana, who scored the equalizer.

Starikov was in fine form in both games for the Cosmos. In Wednesday’s win, he scored a goal off a tremendous bicycle kick in the first half before assisting on Bledi Bardic’s strike in the second half. On Sunday, he began the Cosmos’ comeback by scoring their second goal from inside the box. The Ukrainian also completed 24 of his 26 passes on Sunday.

Ayoze earned his fifth Team of the Week award for the season while Flores received his third and Starikov got his second.

The Cosmos conclude the regular season with a 7 p.m. matchup against Puerto Rico FC on Saturday, October 28. To purchase tickets, click here.
