New York Cosmos fans have chosen Emmanuel Ledesma’s first goal against Puerto Rico FC on October 28 as the Hospital for Special Surgery Cosmos Play of the Month for the month of October.

Ledesma’s goal came at a pivotal time for the Cosmos, as they were trailing 1-0 to Puerto Rico in the second half in the final game of the regular season. The top shelf strike, assisted by Andrés Flores, was the first of three straight goals for Ledesma as he recorded the first hat trick by a Cosmos player this season. He later added an assist as the Cosmos beat PRFC 5-2 to clinch a playoff spot.

The Argentine’s goal was chosen among four finalists by Cosmos fans on social media. The other finalists were a game-winning goal from Javi Márquez on October 1 vs. Puerto Rico FC, Dejan Jaković’s sliding tackle on defense against FC Edmonton on October 14, and Eugene Starikov’s bicycle kick goal against Puerto Rico on October 18.

Ledesma and the Cosmos will battle Miami FC in The Championship semifinals at Riccardo Silva Stadium on Sunday at 5 p.m. ET. The game will be televised nationally on beIN SPORTS (English), beIN SPORTS en Español (Spanish), and beIN SPORTS CONNECT (Digital).
