New York Cosmos B forward Darwin Espinal has been selected as the seventh NPSL National Player of the Week for the 2018 NPSL season.

A native of Honduras, Espinal scored a brace in a 4-0 win over Boston City FC on April 29.

"I'm happy to receive this award, but I could not have done it without my teammates," Espinal commented.

Espinal joined the Cosmos after spending last season with Reno 1868 in the USL. He scored a pair of goals in 12 appearances with the club. Espinal made his professional debut in 2015 with the Tampa Bay Rowdies, where he scored four goals in 25 appearances.

"He was excellent for us and played a vital role in our victory,” Cosmos B head coach Carlos Mendes added. “Well-deserved and we hope for even more performances like this from him this season. "

The winner of this national honor is determined by a vote of media members from across the country.  It is awarded every week during the regular season.
