Davide Materazzi joins the New York Cosmos with a strong Italian developmental background and experience within both European and American competitive environments. Having progressed through academy systems in Italy, Materazzi developed within a tactical framework that emphasizes defensive organization, technical precision, and positional discipline.

After his early years in Italy, he continued his development in the United States, competing at the collegiate and USL League Two levels. Those experiences allowed him to adapt to the physical and transitional style of the American game while maintaining the structured defensive principles shaped by his European foundation.

Primarily a central defender, Materazzi is composed in possession and confident initiating play from the back. He reads the game well, maintains strong positional awareness, and is comfortable defending in both low-block and higher pressing systems. His ability to anticipate attacking movements and communicate within the defensive unit strengthens overall team cohesion.
