GOALKEEPER

Derrek Chan joins the New York Cosmos with extensive professional experience across multiple levels of the American soccer pyramid and international competition. A product of the New York Red Bulls academy system, Chan progressed through Red Bulls II in the USL Championship, where he gained valuable minutes in one of the most competitive developmental environments in the country.

After establishing himself within the Red Bulls pathway, Chan continued his professional career with Charlotte Independence and Real Monarchs, competing consistently in the USL Championship. His time in those environments exposed him to high-tempo matches, playoff races, and physical attacking units that sharpened both his reflexes and command of the penalty area. He also gained international experience with a stint in Germany, further broadening his tactical understanding and professional maturity.

Chan is known for his shot-stopping ability, quick reaction saves, and strong positioning in one-on-one situations. He commands his box confidently on crosses and set pieces, while his distribution supports structured build-up from the back. Comfortable playing with his feet, he contributes to maintaining possession under pressure.

With professional pedigree and league familiarity, Chan provides stability, leadership, and experience between the posts. As the Cosmos establish themselves in USL League One, his composure and competitive mindset anchor the defensive unit.
