Known as “O Rei” (“the King” in his native Portuguese), Pelé scored 12 goals in 14 World Cup matches in four Final tournaments, winning three (1958, 1962, 1970). Joining the Cosmos mid-season in 1975, he scored 64 goals in 106 games, earning one league title, retiring a champion in 1977.
