The Cosmos suspended team operations in 1985, but returned to competition on August 3, 2013, living up to the club’s legacy by winning the revived NASL that season, and again in 2015 and 2016. Building a team with global stars like Spain’s Raúl and Marcos Senna, established local veterans like Carlos Mendes and Danny Szetela, and stars-in-the-making like the USA’s Haji Wright, General Manager Erik Stover and Head Coach Giovanni Savarese followed the successful blueprint from the 1970s for the reboot.
