NOTES

Restrepo on a roll: New York midfielder Walter Restrepo has scored the Cosmos last two goals. Both goals were scored in 1-1 draws against Indy Eleven. Restrepo also leads the Cosmos with three assists in all competitions.

Maurer the man in net: Through 13 NASL games this season, Cosmos goalkeeper Jimmy Maurer has lost just one time. In those 13 games, Maurer has allowed 12 goals, which is fewest in the NASL for goalkeepers with at least 11 starts. Maurer’s 35 saves are best in the NASL.

Strong at Shuart: At home this season, the Cosmos have not lost a game. In six games at Hofstra’s Shuart Stadium, the Cosmos have earned three wins and three draws. In their last game at Shuart Stadium, the Cosmos battled Indy Eleven to a 1-1 draw on July 5. The Cosmos play three of their next four games at home.

Series history: In six meetings with Fort Lauderdale, the Cosmos have never lost, earning five wins and one draw. The Cosmos first game during their reboot season in 2013 was a 2-1 victory over Fort Lauderdale, with the lone goal from the Strikers coming from then Strikers winger Walter Restrepo. In their last meeting, the Cosmos defeated Fort Lauderdale 1-0 on April 4 at Lockhart Stadium. Leo Fernandes scored the game’s only goal, assisted by Restrepo.

Cosmos Copa concludes: Following the NASL match between the Cosmos and Strikers, the Cosmos Copa championship match will take place at Shuart Stadium. The 7th annual Cosmos Copa started with 32 community-based “national teams,” but now just NYC Ireland and NYC Colombia remain. Neither team has won the championship before.
