NEW YORK (December 18, 2015) – The New York Cosmos announced today that the club has re-signed goalkeeper Kyle Zobeck. As per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Zobeck, 25, first signed with the Cosmos on March 26, 2014. He made his professional debut against Minnesota United FC on Aug. 23, and picked up his first career start the following weekend in Indianapolis against Indy Eleven. To date the Coralville, Iowa native has made five appearances and four starts for New York, compiling 14 saves in relief of first-choice goalkeeper Jimmy Maurer.

“We’ve called on Kyle a handful of times over the past two seasons, and he’s stood up to the challenge in front of him each time,” said Cosmos Head Coach Giovanni Savarese. “He’s worked extremely hard to prove himself on this team.”

During his freshman season at Valparaiso University Zobeck didn’t miss a minute in goal, setting a school record for goals against average (GAA) that he would break two seasons later. His 11 shutouts and 0.66 GAA as a junior earned him Horizon League Goalkeeper of the Year honors. Zobeck was a second round selection by FC Dallas in the 2013 Major League Soccer Supplemental Draft.
