THE STAKES

Four days removed from a 2-2 draw against the Tampa Bay Rowdies at Al Lang Stadium, the New York Cosmos will face FC Edmonton on Wednesday night. The Cosmos packed their bags in Tampa and flew directly to Canada, a journey of over 2,800 miles.

Still battling for a spot in The Championship, every Fall Season match presents an opportunity for the Cosmos to collect critical points. As it stands they're even on points at the top of the Fall Season Standings with Indy Eleven, but Indy holds a slight edge in the tiebreaker of goal differential (+10 vs. +9).

The Eddies were riding a three-game unbeaten streak to open the Fall Season before Saturday night's 1-0 defeat to Indy Eleven on the road. They haven't given up more than two goals in a league match this year and are 6-0-1 (W-D-L) at home. Taking three points back to New York will be no easy feat for the Cosmos.

MATCHUP HISTORY

The Cosmos traveled to Clarke Field during the Spring Season, falling 2-1 to the Eddies back on May 15. They are 1-2-2 all time in Edmonton, and 3-4-2 against FC Edmonton since the reboot season of 2013.

NOTES

Lucky season: Lucky Mkosana picked up an assist in Saturday night’s draw against the Rowdies. The Zimbabwean forward has made a consistent impact in New York’s first five Fall Season matches, scoring three times and assisting on two more goals.

July, July: New York has already played five matches this month, amassing a 3-1-1 record. With seven scheduled NASL fixtures, this is the Cosmos’ busiest month of the season.

Almost home: This matchup with the Eddies will be the last stop on a three-game Cosmos road trip. New York returns to Hofstra’s Shuart Stadium for three straight home games starting this Saturday, July 30 against Puerto Rico FC.
