THE STAKES

New York has already claimed the No. 1 overall seed in The Championship, the NASL’s four-team postseason tournament. Meanwhile, United needs a win over the Cosmos and a Rayo OKC loss to seize the last spot. If the Loons pull it off, they’ll be heading back to Shuart Stadium at Hofstra University for a rematch the following weekend.

MATCHUP HISTORY

A pair of 1-0 results – in favor of Minnesota on April 23 and New York on September 10 – has this season series split. Each team has taken three points on its home turf. In 2015 the Cosmos came away with a draw in both their trips to the National Sports Center.

NOTES

Heating Up: Heading into their final matchup of the regular season, the Cosmos have won four of their last five games and lost only once in their last 15. A positive result in Minnesota Saturday night would help maintain the momentum heading into the postseason, which begins November 5.

Firepower: The Cosmos have scored the most goals in the league (58), while Minnesota is third (41). Loons forward Christian Ramirez’s 18 goals have him on pace to win another Golden Boot. Cosmos midfielder Juan Arango sits second with 15 goals.
