THE STAKES

The New York Cosmos (4W-4D-1L) will kick off a three-game home stand when they host FC Edmonton (2W-1D-6L) on Wednesday, June 7 at MCU Park.

The Cosmos return to Brooklyn after a 1-0 win at North Carolina FC. Midfielder, Juan Guerra, netted in his second goal in nine games this season, while goalkeeper, Brian Holt, added a second clean sheet in two appearances. The victory maintains New York's good form, adding a seventh game to their undefeated run in the NASL and a ninth to the team's unbeaten road record in the league.

FC Edmonton hopes to recover after a 3-0 loss on the road to Puerto Rico FC, as well as to move up from the bottom of the NASL standings. The Eddies have been unable to win any of their road games, drawing one and losing four. The team can pack a punch in the attack through forward, Dustin Corea. Corea leads the Eddies in goals and assists (two each), as well as chances created (17). The Cosmos defense will look to prevent the forward from adding to his tally of two assists against New York.

Defensively, the visitors are at a disadvantage. Edmonton has conceded 13 goals to the Cosmos' 8. The team has kept one clean sheet in nine games, while New York has five. None of the Eddies' three goalkeepers – Chris Konopka, Tyson Farago, and Nathan Ingham – have previously faced the Cosmos.

MATCHUP HISTORY

The Cosmos have a 3-5-3 (W-D-L) record against FC Edmonton, outscoring the Eddies 14-11. New York has never lost a home game in the matchup.

NOTES

Double Trouble

Salvadoran Showdown

Midfielders, Richard Menjívar and Andrés Flores, and forward, Irvin Herrera, will face their Salvadoran teammate, forward, Dustin Corea, in Wednesday's game.

Hitting the Target

The Cosmos have scored twice as many goals (10) as the Eddies (5), finding the target 31 times to Edmonton's 19.

Holt at the Helm

Goalkeeper, Brian Holt, started the last two games for the Cosmos, keeping shutouts in both.

Fair Play
