New York Cosmos fans have chosen Juan Guerra’s late equalizer against Jacksonville Armada FC on September 17 as the Hospital for Special Surgery Cosmos Play of the Month for the month of September.

The goal came at a critical moment for the Cosmos. Trailing 3-2 late second half stoppage time, Guerra’s spectacular right-footed strike perfectly hit the corner to tie the game 3-3 and give the Cosmos a much-needed point against Jacksonville, preventing the visitors from leaving Brooklyn with a win.

The point in the standings was a pivotal one, as New York sits tied with Jacksonville for the fourth and final playoff position in the NASL with 37 points.

Guerra’s play was chosen among four finalists by Cosmos fans. The other finalists were Kyle Zobeck’s save in Miami on September 6, Javi Márquez’s late equalizer that same night against Miami FC, and Eugene Starikov’s header for a goal against Jacksonville on September 17.

Guerra and the Cosmos return home on Saturday, October 14 to battle FC Edmonton at 7:00 p.m. To purchase tickets, click here.
