The New York Cosmos had two players participate in the recent international break with recent signing Shavon John-Brown representing Grenada and Aaron Dennis suiting up for the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Both Grenada and the U.S. Virgin Islands are competing in the CONCACAF Nations League.

John-Brown came off the bench at halftime in Grenada’s first match against Saint Kitts and Nevis and the Cosmos forward helped provide a needed spark to the home side’s attack. Grenada found the back of the net in the 82nd minute through Jamal Charles that gave Grenada a 2-1 victory.

Three days later in Grenada’s second match against Belize, John-Brown started and played 72 minutes. The Spice Boys left it late again, this time scoring the winner in the 93rd minute to earn another 2-1 win.

With these victories, Grenada currently sits in first place of Group A in League B play of the CONCACAF Nations League.

Meanwhile, Aaron Dennis had a significant role for the U.S. Virgin Islands, playing all 180 minutes over two matches.

The U.S. Virgin Islands struggled to find the net in their first game against the Cayman Islands. Even with 56 percent possession and 218 completed passes, the U.S. Virgin Islands could not break down the visitors. Despite firing a total of 14 shots, six on target, the Dashing Eagle were shutout and beaten 2-0.

Dennis helped his home country get off to a flying start in their second match against Saint Martin. In just the third minute, Dennis gathered the ball just outside the box and fooled a defender with a faint to his left foot before calmly slotting the ball home.

The U.S. Virgin Islands found the net again just three minutes later to double their advantage and did enough to hang on for a 2-1 victory.

Shavon John-Brown and Aaron Dennis each had successful international breaks with their respective national teams in CONCACAF competition, and the duo have now returned to the Cosmos. Both are currently preparing for the next Members Cup match against Michigan Stars FC at Mitchel Athletic Complex on Saturday night.
