Bardic Returns and Other Roster Additions Confirmed

The New York Cosmos announced today that striker Bledi Bardic has signed a new contract with the club.

The Montenegrin native joined the Cosmos in April 2017.

Bardic’s goal tally has reached double-digits in each of the last two seasons. He finished the 2019 National Premier Soccer League regular season with 10 goals in 14 matches and was named to the NPSL National XL.

“I’m very excited to be back for my fourth year with the Cosmos, the team I love very much and can’t wait to be back on the field,” the striker said.

Bardic is the second-longest tenured Cosmos, behind club captain Danny Szetela.

“Obviously it has been a tough time for everyone in the past three months or so but things are looking better and we excited to get going soon with our preseason before the season starts in August.”

“Bledi brings a great work ethic to the field every day and is always striving to help the team in any way possible,” said Cosmos head coach Carlos Mendes. “He’s a proven goal scorer as well.

In addition to Bardic’s return, five other roster signings have been granted approval by NISA and USSF. The players include goalkeepers Santiago Castano and Jesse Corke, defender Pedro Galvao, defender-midfielder Ansi Agolli and midfielder-forward Shavon John-Brown.

The Cosmos continue preparations as NISA recently announced plans for the upcoming Fall 2020 season. The plan includes a regionalized competition set to begin on August 8 and culminates in a tournament at a single location to determine the Fall champion. All games will be played behind closed doors.
