Fall Season Schedule Announced

Published Jul 31, 2020

The New York Cosmos will kick off a four-game National Independent Soccer Association fall season when they host the Michigan Stars on Saturday, Aug. 15 at 7 p.m.

Home games will be played at Mitchel Athletic Complex in Uniondale, N.Y. but will be played behind closed doors due to Covid-19 safety protocol.

They also will welcome Detroit City FC to Mitchel on Saturday, Aug. 29 at 7 p.m.

New York played Michigan and Detroit in the NPSL Members Cup last year. Detroit won the title, with the Cosmos finishing a close second.

The Cosmos will visit New Amsterdam FC in their first road match on Friday, Aug. 21 at 8 p.m. No site officially has been announced, but is expected to be Hudson Sports Complex in Warwick, N.Y.

They will finish their abbreviated season at Chattanooga FC on Saturday, Sept. 12 at 7:30 p.m.

The Cosmos will compete in the Eastern Conference along with Detroit City FC, Chattanooga FC, Michigan Stars and New Amsterdam FC. The Los Angeles Force, Cal United and Oakland Roots will comprise the Western Conference.

The fall champion will be determined in a tournament that will be hosted in a single location from the end of September thru the beginning of October. That champion will host the NISA 2020-21 season championship match against the spring season winners.

Absent from the fall schedule are two NISA original member clubs - Stumptown Athletic and 1904 FC.

"As a result of the pandemic and the financial stress it puts on clubs, Stumptown Athletic and 1904 FC have decided not to play this fall and prepare themselves to compete in the spring," NISA commissioner John Prutch said.

All NISA games will be streamed live on MyCujoo.
