Match Preview: Cosmos take on Maryland Bobcats in Independent Cup

Cosmos return to the field following Friday’s weather postponement

After lightning delayed their tilt with FC Baltimore Christos, the New York Cosmos face Maryland Bobcats in their first NISA Independent Cup match at Evergreen Sports Complex in Leesburg, Virginia. Slated for a 7:45pm kickoff, the match will take place behind closed doors.

Founded in 2016, Maryland Bobcats currently have a team in the United Premier Soccer League and National Premier Soccer League, respectively. The Bobcats UPSL side are reigning National Champions, following a victory over Santa Ana Winds FC in the league final this past February.

After aiming to tighten up set pieces and mentality down the stretch in training, the Cosmos aim to build their disappointing yet promising result last Sunday. With all four teams in the Mid-Atlantic Region only having one point to their name, a victory tonight would be crucial for the Cosmos hopes to top their region.

Fans can stream tonight’s match for free on MyCujoo and NISA’s website.
