Under the lights of Historic Hinchliffe Stadium, Pride Night will carry added meaning this Saturday as Adam Galluccio will conduct the ceremonial coin toss before the Cosmos’ match.
When Adam Galluccio steps onto the field Saturday night, he will not simply be representing himself. He will embody a story deeply connected to family, equality, and the ongoing impact of visibility within the LGBTQ+ community.
Adam’s story began making history long before he could tell it himself.
In 1997, Adam’s parents, Jon and Michael Galluccio, challenged the state of New Jersey for the right to jointly adopt him as a same-sex couple. Represented by the ACLU of New Jersey, they won the case, helping make New Jersey the first state in the nation to recognize joint adoption rights for same-sex couples. Adam was just two years old.
That victory became a landmark moment for LGBTQ+ families across the country, helping pave the way for future generations to grow up in homes recognized equally under the law. Today, Adam Galluccio stands as living proof of what those fights for equality made possible.
Now 30 years old, Galluccio has built a life rooted in service, passion, and community. A graduate of Manchester Regional High School, he has spent the past five years working as a teacher’s aide in the Haledon Public School district, where he helps students navigate their school days with patience, care, and compassion.
Adam’s appearance at Cosmos Pride Night carries significance beyond ceremony. It reflects the importance of representation, belonging, and community — values that are baked into Cosmos culture.
Saturday’s Pride Night celebration at Historic Hinchliffe Stadium will feature a special pregame atmosphere, community celebrations, and the Cosmos taking on Hartford Athletic under the lights in Paterson.
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. EST, with gates opening at 6 p.m.
