Needing a result in their Spring Season home finale to truly lock down an NASL title, the Cosmos pressured Jacksonville Armada FC's defense often in the first half on June 13.

One of the Cosmos players responsible for generating an early score was winger Hagop Chirishian. In the 26th minute Danny Szetela found a streaking Chirishian in the box, who popped the ball over Armada FC goalkeeper Miguel Gallardo's head with his first touch and smashed home a volley from a tight angle to make it 2-0 New York. 

Armada FC would fight back to earn a 3-3 result on the road, but the draw still guaranteed the Cosmos NASL silverware. Chirishian was voted Emirates Cosmos Man of the Match by the media.

Members of the media will cast their votes to determine the Emirates Cosmos Man of the Match at every Cosmos home game. At each home match, the winner will receive an Emirates Airbus A380 model airplane with an engraved plaque recognizing the player’s achievement.

The Emirates Cosmos Man of the Match award will culminate in a season-ending Emirates Cosmos Player of the Year award. The recipient of the Emirates Cosmos Player of the Year award will receive two round trip tickets on Emirates from New York (JFK) to Dubai (DXB) to celebrate a triumphant season.
