For the fourth year in a row, Street Soccer USA is taking over Times Square this Saturday, July 15th.

 

With mini pitches installed in the Times Square plaza and players ranging from all ages and backgrounds participating, it is time for kickoff. It is time for Street Soccer!

 

The Street Soccer USA Cup is a soccer tournament played in major cities around the country every year to raise awareness about poverty, while also empowering underserved communities through the beautiful game. Since inception, Street Soccer USA has worked towards creating an alternative model for youth sports to encourage more kids to participate in sports.

 

There are events for everyone to come and enjoy. First, there is the Times Square Cup in which the NY Cosmos front office will be competing in as well as the best supporters group in the world, the 5 Points.

 

On mini pitches - which are installed and then uninstalled in remarkable time - teams of four compete for 14 minutes. The matches feature live commentary, and with goals scored at a fast pace, the Times Square Cup makes for great entertainment. The Youth Showcase follows with nearly 100 children participating and is ultimately the highlight of the day.

 

Throughout the day, visit the NY Cosmos live activation on the 43rd street side of the Times Square Plaza, which will include a foosball tournament and a foosball challenge where attendees can compete against winners of nycfoosball.com for your chance to win Cosmos prizes.

 

Raise the 2016 NASL Championship Trophy won by the NY Cosmos and tweet your photo using the hashtag #CosmosCountry and tag @StreetSoccerUSA for a chance to win one of four signed NY Cosmos team jerseys and tickets to the July 29th match against Miami FC at MCU Park.
