Any time you can add your name next to Raúl in the record books, it's a good thing.

Sunday night at Shuart Stadium Andrés Flores did just that, equaling the Spanish legend's feat of earning consecutive Emirates Cosmos Man of the Match honors a month ago. Flores was a spark for many New York scoring chances in a 1-1 draw against the Atlanta Silverbacks on October 4.

Fifteen minutes into the match the Salvadorian international created a goal-scoring opportunity in close quarters, fighting to cross a ball drifting toward the endline. He connected with the head of Leo Fernandes, who narrowly placed his effort off the crossbar.

In the second half Flores may have beaten goalkeeper Steward Ceus for his fourth goal of the campaign if not for a clutch headed clearnace from Atlanta center back Simon Mensing. The ensuing corner kick produced an equalizer for the home side.

For his efforts Flores was named Emirates Cosmos Man of the Match by the media for the second home game in a row.

Members of the media will cast their votes to determine the Emirates Cosmos Man of the Match at every Cosmos home game. At each home match, the winner will receive an Emirates Airbus A380 model airplane with an engraved plaque recognizing the player’s achievement.

The Emirates Cosmos Man of the Match award will culminate in a season-ending Emirates Cosmos Player of the Year award. The recipient of the Emirates Cosmos Player of the Year award will receive two round trip tickets on Emirates from New York (JFK) to Dubai (DXB) to celebrate a triumphant season.
